Hospital Dentistry
Dentist in Savannah, GA
Dental patients needing treatment in a hospital fall into three major categories:
- Those who are not treatable in an office setting, such as those with certain physical or mental impairments
- Sick or elderly patients with high risk medical problems
- Patients with dental phobias
Savannah dentist, Dr. Berwitz, is proud to be on staff at Memorial University Medical Center, Savannah, GA, where he has privileges to take patients in the operating room so that treatment can be accomplished under general anesthesia. In these cases, treatment is usually done in one visit. During his time in residency and as an attending dentist at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ, he treated many patients in the hospital. Dr. Berwitz is an active member in the American Association of Hospital Dentists.
Patients that arrive in the Emergency Room with trauma to their teeth that require immediate treatment are also seen by Dr. Berwitz. Accidents such as fractured teeth, teeth that are knocked out of the mouth, and basic fractures of tooth supporting structures are treated by Savannah dentist, Dr. Berwitz. He also works with the Anderson Cancer Institute in conjunction with the head and neck oncology department.
If you or a member of your family need dental treatment in the hospital, please call our Savannah office for information. We usually like to see the patient in the office first for an evaluation. This allows us to develop a treatment plan to determine the amount of operating room time needed to complete the treatment.
